A Madisonville man was arrested early Wednesday after he reportedly knocked on the door of a house on Stinnett Ridge Road and told the homeowner he'd been bitten 25 times by a copperhead.
Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy James Wall said he responded to the call just after 4 a.m. and found Joshua Giles, 23, County Farm Road, walking down Stinnett Ridge Road, carrying a stick. Wall said he told Giles to drop the stick, and he did, but then Giles approached Walls in an aggressive manner and Wall said he had to take Giles down to the ground.
After he was under control, Giles told Wall he'd been held at gunpoint by two men while he stood in a pit of 50 copperhead snakes. Wall said Giles smelled of alcohol and admitted he'd been taking prescription medication. Giles was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing and public intoxication.
