Mark your calendar for the date of Feb. 20, 2010. This is the date of the Monroe County Good Shepherd Center annual fundraiser dinner and silent auction. The event will be located at Hiwassee College in the Rudy Youell Gymnasium. Silent auction will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with dinner to follow.
Guest speaker will be Bill Landry, well known for his TV station WBIR program series "Heartland Series." Tickets for this event will go on sale Jan. 4. Locations of ticket sales will be provided later or call the Good Shepherd Center.
The Good Shepherd Center was created to minister to people in crisis; specifically, people who are experiencing sudden or unexpected hardships caused by insufficient funds.
The Good Shepherd Center currently provides food to an average of 1,600 people per month and issues approximately 8,000 pounds of food per month to mention just a few of the services provided. The Center operates on donations of money, food and clothing from churches and individuals, and volunteers provide the necessary work to operate the center. The dinner is the only fundraiser the center conducts each year.
