The Merita Bakery or the  "Bread Store" as it is more commonly known is closing its Main Street store in Sweetwater due to the Hostess Company's difficulties.

Store employees told The Advocate & Democrat Tuesday that Tuesday (Nov. 20) would likely be the last day the store is open. The store is had big sales to clear out all remaining merchandise.

Hostess Brands Inc. announced Nov. 16 from its Irving, Texas office that it is winding down operations and has filed a motion with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court seeking permission to close its business and sell its assets, including its iconic brands and facilities. Bakery operations have been suspended at all plants.
