MADISONVILLE-Is Madisonville changing
its liquor store rules on the fly or just adapting to the times?
During its December meeting, the mayor
and aldermen made two changes that raised some eyebrows, but were
ultimately accepted.
Tim Maxwell, owner of Sunset Wine and
Spirits, is looking to buy his sister's share of the store on
Highway 411, but he isn't a resident of Madisonville. The town's
ordinance states that anyone applying for a liquor store license in
Madisonville, must live in the town.
But does that rule apply to a co-owner
after the license has already been granted?
"I'm just looking for a
clarification of the rule," Maxwell said. "I don't want
anything changed for me. I just want to know what my options are." See full story in the Wednesday, Dec. 5, edition of The Advocate & Democrat.
