TELLICO PLAINS- The Tellico Lady Bears faced off against the Lady Rams of Grace Christian Friday night. It was a low scoring affair and defensive battle the entire way. The Lady Bears would fall short in overtime 57-50. The first quarter would be a defensive struggle for both teams. At the end of the first the score was knotted up at 7.
There would be a little more scoring in the second quarter. Grace would hit three 3-pointers in that stanza to take a 22-15 lead into the locker room at the half. The Lady Bears would get back in the game with a run of their own in the third quarter. The Lady Bears would force a few turnovers and hit a couple of 3-pointers to tie the game 31-31 so start the fourth quarter.
The end of the game was very interesting. Grace would take a 45-41 lead and then Jasmine Harris hit a three to make it 45-44 with just 25.3 seconds left in the game. Grace would hit two free throws to make it 47-44. Brittany Kirkland then hit another 3-pointer to tie the game with just 11.1 seconds left in regulation. Grace would get one more shot, but come up short to send the game into overtime.
In extra time, the Lady Bears would only score three points and Grace would eventually pull away just a bit to take the game 57-50. The Lady Bears were lead in scoring by Mckinley Dalton with 16 points, Jasmine Harris had 11 points and Bailey Hunt with 10 The Lady Rams were lead in scoring by Sydney Duggins with 21 points.
