POLK COUNTY- Tellico had a tough time on the road Tuesday night. Tyler Peeler netted 12 points to lead the Bears, but this night belonged to the Wildcats. The quest for the season's first win came to an end Tuesday night for the Polk County Wildcats as they got revenge on a visiting Tellico Plains squad by a final of 47-29.
During the first game of the season, Tellico's Bears came into Benton and handed the Wildcats the first of what would become a six-game losing streak. Polk obviously had that loss on thier minds as the game played on. Polk held Tellico to three quarters of single-digit-scoring, leading 12-2 through the first quarter and 28-10 at the half.
The Bears fought back in the second half, matching Polk point for point, but were never able to gain an advantage down the stretch. Austyn Balcom had 5 points in the loss, and Robert Vandervort added 4 points and 4 rebounds. Devon Collier, Bryce Choate and Dakota Rinehart all had 2 points. Polk was out for revenge though. Evan Ball and Derrick Weber were determined to get the win.
Lady Bears win 45-43
The Lady Bears won a close game on the road over the Polk County Wildkittens, 45-43. McKinley Dalton had a game high 20 points on Tuesday night. Tori McMinn added 8 points, while Valerie Cheek scored 7. Jasmine Harris netted 6 , while Bailey Hunt had 4 in the win.
