A couple of intersection safety
projects should go out for bid in early 2013, according to the
Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The state previously approved safety
improvements for the New Highway 68 intersection with Isbill Road in
Madisonville and the intersections of Hidden Brook Drive, Briarcliff
Road and Nichols Road with New Highway 68 in Sweetwater.
A traffic signal will be put up at the
Isbill Road intersection and a turn lane and safety signage will be
key elements of the improvement package for the intersection in
Sweetwater, according to TDOT's latest road project update obtained
by The Advocate & Democrat this month.
Both intersections have long been
considered dangerous spots by many motorists with the Sweetwater
intersections' safety coming into major discussion after a fatal
wreck in the immediate area in 2010.
