The Ohio State Highway Patrol suspects alcohol was a factor in a two-car crash in Warren County, Ohio that killed four people, including a Madisonville man and wife Sunday morning.

The Madisonville couple's four children were injured in the wreck.

According to a story The Advocate & Democrat obtained from Cincinnati.com, Joshua Nkansah of Fairfield was driving his 1997 Dodge minivan southbound in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Franklin at approximately 2:23 a.m. when he struck another vehicle head-on.

Michele Barhorst, 31, of Madisonville, the driver of the 2000 Chrysler minivan struck by Nkansah's vehicle, died at the scene.

Her husband, Scott Barhorst, 37, was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he died as a result of injuries.

Hailie Barhorst, 9, was flown to Dayton Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is a student at Madisonville Intermediate School.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family," Monroe County Director of Schools Mike Lowry said Monday.

Lowry said teachers at the school say Hailie is a "sweet, quiet, little girl."

Tori Barhorst, 8, and Logan Barhorst, 11, were transported to Atrium Hospital and later flown to Dayton Children's Hospital with serious injuries.

Lowry said county school system teachers were networking trying to find out more information about the other students injured in the wreck. The family had just moved to Monroe County recently.

Tyler Barhorst, 18, a Sequoyah High School student, was transported to Atrium Hospital with minor injuries.

Nkansah, 40, and his son, David Nkansah, 7, also died at the scene.

Darius Nkansah, 4, was transported to Atrium Hospital in Middletown with life-threatening injuries. He was later flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
