A Madisonville man was arrested early Sunday after he ran a stop sign in Vonore with an alleged methamphetamine lab in the back seat.

Vonore Patrolman Michael Miller said it was around 12:15 a.m. he saw a black GMC SUV run a stop sign at the intersection of Depot Street and Highway 411. Miller stopped the truck and found the driver to be James Eric Hamm, 36, Hiwassee Road.

Miller said Hamm's license was suspended and when he asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Hamm said no. Miller asked if he could search the truck and Hamm said yes.

Miller looked through the vehicle and found a white powder believed to be methamphetamine in a plastic baggie beside the driver's seat. Miller placed Hamm under arrest and asked him if there was anything dangerous in the truck. Hamm said there was a meth lab in the back of the truck.
