For years it's been said that mail
service is on the way out in the modern age. But at least one Vonore
man considers it still important enough to risk jail time.
Monroe County Sheriff's Detective
Conway Mason Andy Self reported on Jan. 22 that someone had stolen
mail from his mailbox on Corntassel Road.
Mason looked into the theft and
eventually pegged Josh Ryan Morgan as a possible suspect. Mason
talked to Morgan and Morgan admitted not only that he'd stolen
Self's mail, but several other people's also.
If you suspect you're missing some
mail and live in that area near Vonore, the Sheriff's Office has
probably recovered your mail and will send you a letter regarding
this incident that will detail what steps you need to take.
Detective Jennifer Bledsoe said the Sheriff's Office is consulting with the U.S. Postal Service about
this case and the investigation is ongoing.
Bledsoe also said there will be a
meeting at 6 p.m. on January 31, at the Vonore Community Center
regarding this incident. If you feel you have been a victim in the
case, you are encouraged to attend.
