The worst weather has moved into
North Carolina. The Advocate staff will check to see if there are any damage reports. At this
point, no tornado touchdowns have been confirmed officially. Heavy rain continues to fall across Monroe County, but the tornado watch issued at 6 a.m. this
morning has also expired. Flooding has forced the closure of Old
Athens Pike in Sweetwater on the Highway 11 end at least for now. High water is also across Highway 11 near the nursing home in Sweetwater. Keep in mind roads
can improve or get worse quickly and there is no substitute for common sense driving, weather
officials said. **Check our Facebook page for our friends'
reports on local road conditions.
