MADISONVILLE-A trial date has been set for a man accused of killing his girlfriend in August 2012.

Ray Charles White, 54, accused in the death of Alonda White after allegedly shooting her during an argument, has been given a trial date of Aug. 20, with any motions scheduled to be heard June 24.

White was originally charged with second-degree murder, but the grand jury upgraded that charge to first-degree murder when it heard the case. The reason for the change is unknown as grand jury proceedings are not open to the public. White is also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
