According to published reports, a
Tellico Plains manuÂfacturer is laying off nearly half of its
workers, but the owner says he hopes the move will only be temporary.
Tellico Services Inc., which is located
in the former CVG buildÂing, has announced it is laying off
approximately 85 of its 200 workers.
According to Knoxville media outlets,
Owner Mark Soles told them he had to make the move due to a lack of
orders from the military. The company has a conÂtract with the
Army, but the fundÂing has been delayed due to the sequester and
budget issues in Washington, D.C. Soles has said he will bring back
the workers as soon as orders are received.
An employee on social media said they
would be laid off until at least May.
The Advocate & Democrat tried
numerous times to contact Soles, but was unable to reach
him for comments before press time. We will continue to update
information on the layoffs as soon as it is available.
