Proving that virtually anything can be stolen, a Sweetwater man was arrested March 6 for stealing a food item most people usually pass by.
Sweetwater Police Officer Kelvin Franco said he was in the area of the Save A Lot on Main Street on a theft call with a description of a man in a gray shirt and khaki pants and he saw a man in those clothes walking in the Acme Block parking lot.
Franco identified the man as Caleb Gifford and turned around to go talk to him, but Gifford took off running.
Franco said Gifford ran toward Hydra Pool and attempted to climb a fence, but couldn’t make it. Franco caught up to him and had to use his Taser to get him off the fence.
Gifford admitted to taking the items and told Franco where to find them. The items were two packs of chicken gizzards worth $4.58.
Gifford, 29, South Main Street, Sweetwater, was charged with theft.
