A Philadelphia man has been indicted on charges of attempted murder after he allegedly shot at his ex-girlfriend on Nov. 11.
Anthony Mitchell was indicted in Monroe County Criminal Court during the grand jury’s June session.
Sweetwater Police Det. John Scruggs said a woman told him she had broken up with Mitchell about five months previously and she had not attempted to contact him. She said she had also taken out an order of protection and a criminal summons of harassment on him, but neither had been served yet.
The woman told Scruggs that Mitchell had followed her from Vonore Road to Sweetwater Hospital on Nov. 11 where he allegedly pulled up beside her and fired at her with a pistol.
Scruggs said he found the bullet in the lower window seal about a foot behind where the woman had been sitting.
She told Scruggs that Mitchell had been texting her friends and following her around for the past five months and that he sent her a message over Facebook saying he was going to kill her in the door of her apartment in front of her kids.
Mitchell, 42, Ragon Road, Philadelphia, is now facing two counts attempted murder and stalking. He is scheduled to be back in court July 20.
