A Philadelphia woman was arrested Dec. 31 after she apparently had a mental breakdown and started threatening to kill everybody in the house.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Cole Morgan said it was around 10:32 p.m. when he was sent to a home on Gateway Circle and met a woman at New Macedonia Church and was told he needed to get to the residence before her sister, Shannon Thompson, hurt someone or herself.
Morgan said he and another deputy went to the house and saw Thompson try to run out the back door, but she was so intoxicated she fell to the ground.
Morgan said Thompson kept yelling and cursing, saying she was going to burn the house down and kill everyone because they were all out to get her.
Morgan said she was combative and told them to take her to jail and at one point said she was going to punch a deputy so she’d go to jail.
Morgan said he took Thompson into custody, then the caller told him she had gone out for New Year's Eve with friends and when she came home, Thompson met her at the door, yelling and cursing before grabbing her by the hair and hitting her in the face several times with a closed fist.
Morgan said while he was driving to the jail, Thompson kept yelling, cursing and making threats toward her family.
Thompson, 27, was charged with assault by domestic violence.
