The Sweetwater Kiwanis Club will once again jointly sponsor the annual Christmas Parade in Sweetwater.

This will be the 39th annual Christmas Parade sponsored by the Sweetwater Kiwanis Club for the City of Sweetwater.

The parade will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, and will start promptly at 7 p.m. All floats must be lined up and ready to be judged by 5 p.m. All other participants will need to there and ready to proceed by 6 p.m.

The parade route will leave from Mayes Avenue, traveling through downtown Sweetwater, and end at the Plaza 68 Shopping Center on Highway 68.

Prizes for float entries will be as follows: first place $300, second place $200, and third place $100 in the following four categories: churches, civic and fraternal groups, scouting and school groups, and commercial and governmental entities. There is no registration fee and no specific theme.

For safety reasons, all entrants are asked not to throw candy or other objects from floats or vehicles during the parade.

The Sweetwater Police Department (SPD) has also requested that there be no four-wheeler participants in the parade due to safety concerns.

By SPD request, all horse riders should meet in the parking lot behind the Biggs House on N. Main Street. They will be asked to unload, take their trailer to the end of the parade route and make your way back to the Biggs Street site. You must sign in with a police department representative, who will give them any directions they need.
