A shirtless man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly tried to get into a woman’s car.
Madisonville Police Officer Andy Cline said he went to Highway 411, near Walmart, after a call came in that a man without a shirt had tried to get into a woman’s car while she was stopped at a red light.
The woman told 911 that the man appeared to be on some kind of intoxicant and Officer Cline and Officer Craig Summey said they found him running on Highway 411 in the northbound lane.
Cline identified the man as Nathan Allen Smith, 38, Jefferson Avenue, Madisonville, and said he tried to talk to him, but Smith had trouble answering questions.
Cline said Smith also had slurred speech, so he was placed under arrest and taken to jail. While there, Cline said an intake officer asked Smith if he had used any drugs for medical reasons before being brought in and Smith allegedly admitted that he had used “some meth and a little bit of marijuana.”
Smith was charged with public intoxication.
