A Sweetwater man was given an effective life sentence when he pleaded guilty to rape of a child and aggravated sexual battery in Monroe County Criminal Court.

Bobby Dale Peak, 67, was given 30 years at 100% for the rape of the child charge and eight years at 100% on the aggravated sexual battery charge. The indictment on Peak said he raped a child below the age of 13 between Oct. 2018 and Jan. 2019.

Peak will get credit for eight months already served, but is looking at being 96 before he is eligible for release.

In other guilty pleas heard Jan. 3 in an early year session:

Ricky Dale Runyon, Ball Play Road, Madisonville, violation of the sex offender registration law, $1,100, three years suspended after six months.

Matthew R. Rose, Burton Road, Sweetwater, two counts assault with fear of bodily injury, 11/29 suspended after 30 days on first count, 11/29 suspended on second count.

Dean Bookout Johnson, 26, Wilson Station Road, Englewood, theft of property $2,500-$10,000, three years suspended.

Erica Hope Stinnett, 35, Warren Street, Madisonville, theft of property $1,000-$2,500, two years at 30 percent.

Brandon Wayne Worthy, 26, Eaves Street, Athens, conspiracy to commit criminal simulation, 11/29 suspended; criminal simulation, $500, two years suspended.
