An accident led to the death of an Ohio woman at Bald River Falls over the weekend.

On Saturday, Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Haily Burrell was called out to the falls in reference to a person falling.

When she arrived, she found that CPR was in progress on a woman.

In talking to the woman’s fiancee, Burrell reportedly learned that the couple had been standing in the water at the top of the falls when “they both slipped and fell into the water.”

The man was pulled out of the water by a bystander, but the woman was nowhere to be found.

Burrell then talked to another witness who reportedly said that the woman was in the water “about 30-40 minutes” before he found her “trapped underneath a log that was in a current.”

The people were then able to pull the woman from the water and CPR was administered, but she would later pass away at Sweetwater Hospital.
