A man was arrested after he was found to be hiding a juvenile wanted for murder in Greene County in his house.
Sweetwater Police Det. John Scruggs said he and other officers went to a house on Monroe Street on Oct. 9 just after 11 a.m. and talked to a man in the driveway who said the juvenile wasn’t there.
Scruggs asked the man if he minded them looking around the house and he said no, but there was a pit bull in the house he needed to put up.
Scruggs said they followed the man into the house and talked to a woman who said the juvenile hadn’t been at the house in three weeks.
But then Officer James Willett said he thought the juvenile was in the crawlspace and they could hear movement in that area. They checked there and Officer Tyler Blankenship went into the room near the crawlspace and found Edward Houser, who is reportedly related to the juvenile.
Houser said the juvenile wasn’t in the room, but Blankenship searched the room and found him hiding behind the bed. Scruggs said a gun was found near where the juvenile had been with a magazine on a table a few feet away. Houser reportedly said the gun was his.
Houser, 44, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, accessory after the fact and giving a false report.
While nothing was revealed about the juvenile due to his age, police did say he was picked up by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and will face charges of first degree murder, especially aggravated assault and aggravated assault.
