A man was arrested for domestic assault Nov. 6 after a woman reportedly had to shoot a gun to get him to stop assaulting another woman.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputy Dalton Rinehart said it was around 1 a.m. when he answered a call of a woman walking on Old Highway 68, trying to hide from her husband.

Rinehart said he found the woman hiding in a yard and she said she was running from her husband, Willie Click.

Rinehart said he took her to back to the house where the alleged incident had happened, but found Willie Click was gone. He spoke to a couple of witnesses and they, along with the alleged victim, told him Click had arrived at the house trying to find his wife.

The woman had ran out of the house and gotten into a truck, but Click reportedly caught up with her, opened the truck door and dragged her out, Rinehart was told. He then threw her on the ground, held her down for a moment, then tried to take her off the property.

One of the witnesses said she fired a gun to get Click to stop assaulting his wife, then the victim ran off and the witness said she drove Click to a house on Veteran’s Road. Rinehart said the residence was checked, but Click wasn’t found.

Click, 33, who has addresses for both Madisonville and Knoxville, is facing a charge of domestic assault.
