Madisonville FD responds to house fire

At around 11 p.m. Saturday, the family living in this residence on County Road 468 near Englewood smelled smoke and then discovered the back of the house on fire. Upon arrival of the fire department, the house was fully involved. Due to high winds, the fire spread and burned eight acres. Englewood Rural, Etowah Rural, Claxton, Conasauga and Madisonville City fire departments all responded along with the Tennessee Forestry Division. Englewood Rural Fire Chief Billy Roach was in command of the scene. Standing by for those districts were Etowah City, Polk County and Athens City fire departments. Also assisting were AMR and McMinn County Sheriff’s Department. Red Cross is assisting the family.
