Meek Lester (Buddy) Hicks III

Meek Lester (Buddy) Hicks III went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at Catawaba Valley Medical Center from complications of COVID-19.

Bud, as he was commonly known, graduated from Madisonville High school in 1981 and after several years, joined the Navy in December of 1988. He served his country in the Gulf War on the USS Spruance out of Mayport, Florida, and was honorably discharged on Sept. 19, 1992.

He worked for many years at Advanced Automation in Greenville, South Carolina, until having a stroke, which left him unable to work.

Though unable to work, he continued to serve the Lord he loved by remaining very active as a member of the Mountainview Baptist Church in Hickory, North Carolina. He served in the food pantry and provided technical support for the church’s audio-video systems.

He was dedicated to witnessing to everyone he met; even while in the emergency room waiting to be admitted with COVID-19, he witnessed to people. He was passionate about winning people to his Lord.
