Bennie Ray Moser, age 76, of Sweetwater, passed away on Jan. 11, 2021, following a short illness.

He was married to his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Raper, for 56 years.

He served with several civic organizations. He was on the Sweetwater City School Board for 21 years and was a Monroe County Commissioner for 16 years. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Optimist Club for many years. He volunteered in the Sweetwater Youth Football program for many years.

He was a member of the Sixth Avenue Church of God and served on the council there for 25 years.

He worked for Newman’s Grocery and Smith and Woods Food Center for a total of 45 years and retired as manager there.

Bennie loved the Sweetwater community and his family very deeply.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Erskin and Volena Moser; his daughter, Sharon Moser Jenkins; his sister, Wanda Christine; and his brothers, Lloyd (Bud) Moser, Alfred Moser and Glenn Moser.

Survivors include: his wife, Marilyn Moser;

Sons, Sam Moser and wife Kelly, and Ben Moser and wife Shannon, all of Sweetwater;

Son-in-law, Robert Jenkins, of Sweetwater;

Grandsons, Laint Moser and wife Catie, of Johnson City, and Morgan Moser, of Bristol, Virginia;

Sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Bob Holloway, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Roni and the late Denny Raper, of Monon, Indiana, Bridget and Wayne Raper, of Madisonville, Judy and Leroy McLemore, of Athens, Shelby and Bill Cansler, of Madisonville, Johnnie and Glen Breeden, of Sweetwater, Kat and Darryl Gibson, of Knoxville, Vickie and Roger Raper, of Madisonville, and Glenda and Jim Pemberton, of Maryville;

Sisters-in-law, Betty Jo Moser, of Madisonville, and Mireille Moser, of Chicago, Illinois.

The viewing was on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Homes in Sweetwater. No family was present.

A private service was conducted by Rev. Brian Strugill and Rev. Floyd Oliver.

A graveside service and interment was conducted on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Sweetwater Memorial Park.
