Doris Helen Montooth, age 89, of Sweetwater, departed this life and went to her Heavenly home with the Lord on Jan. 10, 2021, at Sweetwater Hospital.

She was a native of Paint Rock. She lived in the Luttrell Community of Loudon until the death of her husband, then she moved to Sweetwater. She was a member of Paint Rock Baptist Church.

Doris loved watching the Lady Vols and working in her rose garden.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Roy “Coot” Montooth; her parents, John and Beulah Cunningham; and her brothers and sisters, Kenneth, Joe, Willard, and Charles Cunningham, Bernece Martello, ElFreda Carter, and Hersel Bradford.

Survivors include: her brother, Paul


Son, Garey Moontooth and (Dana);

Daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Joe Hudson, and Kim and Bill McDaniel;

Grandchildren, Brian and Elizabeth Hudson, Rachel Hudson, Tyler and Kristen McDaniel, Taylor and Austen Akens, and Anna McDaniel.

Great-grandchildren, Camden and Braxton McDaniel.

Many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives, whom she dearly loved;

Many friends who called her “mom.”

Friends and family could call at their convenience on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Family was not be present due to the pandemic.

A Graveside service and interment was conducted on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. in Sweetwater Memorial Park with Rev. Robert Jenkins officiating. Pallbearers included Brian Hudson, Tyler McDaniel, Richard and Bruce Cunningham, Tim Bradford, and Doug Montooth.

COVID guidelines were followed at services, including masks and social distancing.

Special “thank you” to the staff at Sweetwater Hospital for the love and care they provided her during the past months.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Paint Rock Baptist Church or Fenders Methodist Church to the cemetery fund or to a charity of choice in memory of Doris Montooth.
