Billy Joe Dotson, age 73, of Madisonville, after much pain and suffering peacefully left his home to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 16, 2020.
Joe was a member of Mt. Calvary Southern Methodist Church. He was a retiree of Athens Products, where he was a quality control gauge specialist. Joe loved his work, but loved more the people he worked with.
He was a member of the Lions Club of Madisonville and the National Wild Turkey Federation. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the mountains. He enjoyed collecting things, in general, and giving those things to others. He loved helping people, loved his family and loved his Lord.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Ed and Juanita Dotson; his brothers, Doug and Jim Dotson; his two infant sisters, Linda and Faye; and his sister-in-law, Judy Sitzler.
Joe leaves behind, but awaits in Heaven for: his caring, devoted and loving wife of 40 years, Brenda Sitzler Dotson;
His loving sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Gina Dotson, of Loudon, and Chad and Alison Dotson, of Farragut;
Three precious grandchildren, whom he loved and treasured so much, Drew, Sophie and Lane;
Sister, Wilma Maddox, of Athens;
Brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Mildred Dotson, of Sweetwater, and Larry and Liz Dotson, of Charleston;
Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Verna and Doug Alexander, Kim and Don Henderson, Dot and Joel Watson, Toni Coffelt, Keith Sitzler, John and Julie Sitzler;
Special friend, Audrey Stephens;
Special nephews, Zack and Chance Sitzler;
Many nieces and nephews, who he loved very much.
The family received friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home in Madisonville. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in the Biereley-Hale Chapel with Rev. Doug Alexander officiating. Interment was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery.
