David Blackwell, age 71, of Madisonville, formally of Copperhill, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2020, at his home.
David was born on Nov. 5, 1948, in Copperhill. He graduated from Copper Basin High School (Class of 1966), Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science (Class of 1976) and National School of Mortuary Management. He was a member of the Academy of Graduate of Embalmers of Georgia and a member of the Funeral Directors Association.
David was a retired funeral director. He was a member of 411 Chapel Baptist Church in Madisonville.
David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved reading, stamp collecting and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed spending time on the lake.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Sidney Eugene Blackwell.
Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Janett Christopher Blackwell, of Madisonville;
Son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Beverly Blackwell, of Signal Mountain;
Daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Chris Hamilton, of Sweetwater;
Grandchildren, Hunter Jamerson, Sgt. Brady L. Hamilton, Mackenzie Eschmann, Graham Eschmann and Reilly Eschmann;
Great-grandchildren, Brantley Jamerson and Jax Jamerson;
Mother, Geneva Reid McFarland, of Cleveland;
Brothers and sisters-in-law, Reid Blackwell and wife Sherry, of Turtletown, and Jody Blackwell and wife Margaret, of Salisbury, North Carolina;
Special nephew, Sgt. Major Command Russell (LaFleur) Blackwell, of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, at 1 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home of Copperhill Chapel with the Rev. Michael McLemore officiating. Eulogy was by Cecil Anderson. Music was by Janice Reid. Pallbearers were Cecil Anderson, Butch Anderson, Jerry Pack and William Wright. Honorary Pallbearers were Mark Cansler, Don Dehart, Clyde Collins and Troy McConkey.
Interment followed in the Crestlawn Cemetery.
