Defeat COVID-19 through prayer, repentance

To the editor,

Much has been said in the paper concerning COVID-19 and I would like to add my voice to the discussion.

First of all, I thank Mayor Mitch Ingram and Gov. Bill Lee for resisting the hysterical push for mandatory masks. It is not the government’s place to force something this drastic on a free people in Tennessee in hopes that somehow it will eradicate the coronavirus.

God says otherwise!

If we do not keep His commandments and hold Him in reverence, then there will be no let up in the pandemic. “The Lord shall make the pestilence leave unto thee” (Deuteronomy 28:21). “… except ye repent, ye should all likewise perish!” (Luke 13:3-5).

Dear readers, quite frankly, the coronavirus is a judgement by the Lord God on a sinful and adulterous generation. The plague will not be lifted until we humble ourselves to Him in repentance.

Please understand that I have the utmost compassion for those who have been afflicted by COVID and have been praying for you. However, our God is holy and He has the responsibility for correcting us when our nation rebels against Him.
