It is only fitting in a season where Tellico Plains beat their district opponents by an average 40 points that the Lady Bears do it one final time in the District 4-A Championship.

Four Lady Bears hit double figures as Tellico Plains dispatched Copper Basin 63-28 on Feb. 23 — leading the Lady Bears (22-0) to their fifth straight district championship.

Maggie Hooper led Tellico Plains with 16 points — one short of her season high - followed by 11 from both Kori Hamilton and Joell Stinnett. Jaden Hollinghead scored 10 while Chloe Ratledge hit one 3-pointer en route to an eight point evening.

Hollinghead is currently at 930 career points.

Emma Moore scored seven points off the bench.

The Lady Bears led 17-7 after the first quarter and 29-14 at the half. Copper Basin was led by Sapporiah Ross with 11 points.

Hamilton was named the District 4-A Tournament MVP while Hollinghead, Hooper, Ratledge and Stinnett were named to the all-tournament team.

Tellico Plains will host Midway (12-13) in the Region 2-A Quarterfinals on Friday, Feb. 26. Tip at 7 p.m.
