Sweetwater basketball

Sweetwater’s boys basketball program has made academics a priority while also producing on-court success.

The Sweetwater boys’ basketball program has moved to a temporary shutdown due to COVID-19 related issues.

The shutdown, which was given the start date of Wednesday, Nov. 11, runs for two weeks. The shutdown will last until Wednesday, Nov. 25, which is the start of Thanksgiving break for Monroe County Schools.

The Wildcats were scheduled to host Greenback on Tuesday in a season opener as well as visit Lenoir City on Thursday, but those games have been canceled.

Additionally, the Monday, Nov. 23, game with Midway and Tuesday, Nov. 24, game at Tellico Plains have been canceled.

The Sweetwater girls’ basketball home game with Greenback, scheduled for Tuesday, has also been canceled.

The boys program is not allowed to practice during the shutdown.

The Sweetwater boys’ next scheduled game is Tuesday, Dec. 1, at East Hamilton.
