The Sequoyah Lady Chiefs slowed early runs in their third meeting of the season with Meigs County on Thursday, but could not turn around the previous two results, losing 52-25 on the road in the District 5-AA semifinals.

The Lady Chiefs entered the third quarter trailing by 10, but were outscored in the third quarter 23-5.

Abbey Borden, Brooklyn James and Sydney Massengale got on the board in the first quarter, but making the noise was Sequoyah’s defense, holding the Lady Tigers to 10 points in the first quarter.

However, Meigs County picked things up from there — outscoring the Lady Chiefs 11-5 in the second quarter.

Sequoyah matched the Lady Tigers with eight points in the fourth quarter — led by four from Hanna Carroll.

Carroll led Sequoyah with six points followed by five from Jesee Weese.

With the loss, the Lady Chiefs will fall to the District 5-AA consolation game on Monday with Polk County and will be on the road to start the Region 3-AA tournament.
